Dina says:

I have had a wide range of wonderful jobs and being a marriage celebrant is one of the most pleasurable. I love working with two people on the brink of something so profound and so worthwhile.

I developed a lot of the skills needed to be a good marriage celebrant through the work I have been involved in over the years.

I learnt from my students that everyone is truly an individual whose opinions are to be respected. Interpersonal skills are very important when you are working closely with people on a delicate project and for me, every couple deserves my very best efforts.

Television gave me the opportunity to work with very creative and talented people from whom I learned to think outside the box, how to interpret ideas, how to present and how to engage an audience. All this has been so useful for me as a celebrant; I recognise my couples as individuals and spend time getting to know them to make sure I understand what they both want and to make them feel comfortable with me. I help them turn their ideas into a memorable celebration of marriage and not just a recitation. My experience in business and the public service also equips me to carry out the legal stuff carefully and properly.

I work with my couples so they feel complete trust in my being able to deliver what we have planned together. When the Big Day arrives, when there are just so many things to think or worry about, they know their actual marriage ceremony isn’t one of them!

I am also a member of the Australian Federation of Civil Celebrants Inc. (AFCC). Dina Browne Membership Information.
